Frequently asked questions
How much tile waste should I allow?
Plan 10% for straight layouts on standard formats. Use 15–20% for diagonal installs, large-format slabs, or rooms with many cuts around toilets and niches. Leftovers can cover thresholds or future replacements.
Does grout width change how many tiles I need?
Wider grout joints slightly increase the number of tiles because each tile plus joint occupies more area. Enter your grout gap in millimetres; the tool adjusts piece count before waste is applied.
How are tile boxes calculated?
If you enter tiles per box, the result rounds up to whole cartons so you can order from the supplier. Boxes often include a few extra pieces beyond the calculated count, which helps with breakage during installation.
