Frequently asked questions

Where is the golden ratio used in interiors?

Use it to split gallery walls, shelf heights, headboard zones, or curtain stacks into a major focal area and a smaller accent zone. The ratio φ (about 1.618) guides proportions that feel naturally balanced to the eye.

How is the golden ratio different from the rule of thirds?

The rule of thirds divides a line into three equal parts (roughly 33% / 67%). The golden ratio uses about 62% and 38%, which is slightly more subtle. Both work for art placement; φ is common in furniture and millwork details.

Can I use centimetre results from this tool on site?

Yes. Enter the full wall or niche width in cm and mark the major and accent cut lines on site. Round to the nearest 5 mm if your tape measure allows; small deviations are not visible at room scale.
